Episode 49: Getting Loud

The Hotline’s Jessica Taylor joins Phil and Wesley at Columbia’s Flying Saucer to talk national politics and the 2012 presidential campaigns. But she might have stopped in at a bad time because South Carolina politics seems to be as hot as it ever is. Republican leaders are giving Phil plenty to talk about and new census data has finally coming, giving SC a new congressional district and drastically shifting state leg district populations.

Governor Haley ousts Darla Moore and gets caught up in another tax issue, which covers up here biggest win yet – the Senate passes roll call voting. The headaches continue for Lt Governor Ken Ard has the SC Ethics Commission announces a ton of charges as Pub Politics goes on air (oh, the joys of Twitter).

Wesley steps out for one quick phone call and Phil thinks he can just take over the show. What kind of crap is that? Lobbyist and politico Michael Rentiers jumps in for a few minutes to save the day, joined by SC blogger Laurin Manning. Voter ID, illegal immigration, leadership PACs and cowardly bloggers are the big topics of discussion.
